The stylish 2016 BMW X3 crossover SUV offers a combination of practicality, style, fuel efficiency and lots of technology options making it one of the best family cars expected to hit the market. Now in its sixth year of production; there are few notable design changes in its 2016 model. It will be available in four trim levels: sDrive28i, xDrive28i, xDrive28d and xDrive35i that will have a selection of engines with different capabilities. It will be quieter and more comfortable while still retaining its ample cargo space.

2016 BMW X3 – Stylish Exterior Design:

The exterior of the 2016 BMW X3 has a more aggressive look and an aerodynamic design. Revisions were already done a year ago on the LED headlights and tail lights in its predecessor so that aspect is retained. There will be the custom kidney grille found in the X series and the lines on its sides that enhance the luxury look. It have 4 doors, a panoramic sunroof and its alloy wheels have increased in size with power door mirrors and spoilers standard in every trim.

The interior will have a spacious cabin with two rows of seats that can hold five passengers. Genuine leather covers are used on the seats, the 2016 BMW X3 interior has so many additional features and “can be as nice as the customer’s budget allows.” A mobile office, enhanced Bluetooth and USB connectivity, 205 watts 9 audio speakers, radio, CD player and an MP3 decoder are standard infotainment features in this car. There is a leather steering wheel and security features implemented including: traction control, electronic stability, ABS brakes with brake assist, overhead, front and side airbags and collision sensors. BMW’s iDrive system controls infotainment and the internal climate control with output seen on a touch screen at the dashboard. There are beverage holders for the front and back passengers. To create extra luggage space; the back seats can fold inwards.

2016 BMW X3 – Engine and Fuel Efficiency:

The 2016 BMW X3 will have 3 engine options. Lower sDrive28i and xDrive28i trims have the base turbocharged petrol 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 240 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 260 pound foot of torque at 1200 rpm. This engine is mated with an 8 speed automatic transmission with variable valve control and this car will be a rear wheel drive with an option of all wheel drive. Efficiency for this engine is 28 miles per gallon for highway and 21 mpg for city.

The xDrive28d trim has a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine that produces 180 hp at 4000 rpm and 280 lb-ft torque at 1450 rpm and it is mated with an 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox. This will be an all wheel drive and fuel efficiency is at 27 and 34 mpg for city and highway. The highest trim xDrive35i is an all wheel drive and has a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline-6 engine that produces 300 hp at 5800 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque at 1750 rpm. It is also mated with a well programmed 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox and has fuel efficiency of 19/26 mpg for city/highway.

2016 BMW X3 – Predicted Date of Launch and Price:

BMW’s retail price for the 2016 BMW X3 is: $39,500 for the sDrive28i, $41,400 for the xDrive28i, the diesel xDrive28d prices will start at $43,000 with the highest trim that has all the premium features the xDrive35i; retailing at $47,300. This car is set to be released in the second half of 2016 and competition will come from Audi Q5 and Acura RDX. These cars are cheaper than the 2016 BMW X3 but the class and optimum performance associated with BMW cars will make it competitive.
